  2. What is a function? • A function is used to model a rate of change between two variables. For example: 12 inches in a foot its always 12 inches so the function would be: y=12x. That is a function and an example.

Real life example of a function. • One real life example of a function is a cell phone company’s cell phone plan. • If a company charges say $25 as a set up fee for a cell phone then charges $0.10 cents for each minute on the phone the function would be: y = 0.10x + 25. That is a basic example of a real life function.

  4. Range and domain. • The Range and domain for the equation y=0.10x+25 would be: • Range:.10-25 • Domain: is .10 because it’s the value next to x value.
