Self-Prevention: Self-organizing model for forest fire prevention • PORTUGAL • Number of forest fires: 20.501 (4.254 forest fires and 16.247 small fires) • hectares burned: 104,125 hectares, • Total hectares burned in the territory Duero-Douro: 7,186MORE THAN 60% OF THE FIRES IN 2012 HAVE AFFECTED PROTECTED AREAS SPAIN Total fires registered: 14,050 fires (47 fires over last year); Forest area affected: 189 321 ha (3.5 times the area affected last year); reportmade in 2013
