  2. Brief Description • The Red Tailed Hawks are white and brown and gray and gold • Their wing span is 4 feet long

  3. Where does it live • They live all over the United States and Canada • They are in the sky and the forests

  4. Basic Needs • Food – mice, snakes, small birds, squirrels, rats, fish. • Water • Shelter – can live in lots of places, desert, North America. • Family – Very important, help babies learn to fly

  5. Adaptation • The Red Tailed Hawk can live anywhere • They adjust to the city or the dessert or the woods • Hawks change their diet • They can eat mice, squirrels, pigeons and even rattlesnakes

  6. Adaptation • The Red Tailed Hawks are patient • Hawks can sit and wait for their prey • When they see their prey, they swoop down and grab it with their talons

  7. Adaptation • Hawks are generalists • Generalists can live in many places • They can build nests and raise their young in trees, cliffs, or windmills • As a result they live longer than other birds
