  2. Introduction • Genetically modified (GM) Foods have recently become very popular, especially in the food industry. There are many benefits and downfalls to using GM foods.   3. Task You are on a team of chefs that are about to open a new restaurant. There are two vendors from which you can buy vegetables, one that grows all foods organically and one that uses genetically modified organisms. It is your task to research GM foods and decide which vendor you will buy from. You will write a persuasive paper explaining your choice and the reasons supporting your decision. Task (cont’d) • By the end of the lesson, your group will answer the following questions: • What is a Genetically Modified Organism/Food? • What are the benefits of GM foods? • What are the health risks of GM foods? • You will also write a persuasive paper (1 page) on whether your agree or disagree with GM foods and why.   6. Evaluation • Persuasive paper will be worth 100 points and should follow the following criteria: • Paper should answer all task questions. (50 points) • Paper should be 1 page double spaced with proper grammar and formatting (introduction, body and conclusion). Conclusion • Throughout this exercise, you have become familiar with genetically modified foods and their impact on society. • You have successfully researched the topic and developed your own opinions on this current scientific issue. • How does your opinion reflect the research that you have done?
