Statewide Provider Database: Goals • Individual level: to facilitate access to and utilization of services by clients • Agency level: to assess gaps in resources and develop new resources in areas of local need • System level: reduce inefficiencies and encourage collaboration of provision of services to the client population

  3. Provider Data: The IDCFS Statewide Provider Database • Began as a pilot in Cook County, as part of a project funded by the MacArthur Foundation • Expansion to statewide contracted by DCFS in 2004 • Launched for use by 6000 caseworkers on 3/17/2008

  4. SPD Contents • Currently contains information on: • 1,320 agencies • 2,700 programs across the state • Over 15,000 services • Includes programs with and without DCFS contracts • Includes data on which of state departments contract for services

Geomapping for Gap Analysis • Children and provider locations assigned as points on the map – addresses converted to X/Y coordinates • Incorporates information about • Location where services are provided • Geographic catchment area • Facilitates spatial analyses • Nearest neighbor analysis • Spatial discounting • Topographical maps

SPD and Other Online Directories • Benefits of using SPD • Data can be incorporated for mapping • Data is accessible to registered users for searching based on specific criteria • Highly detailed records • Benefits of supplementing SPD with other directories • Not password protected; open access • Comprehensive listings for other service types/areas
