  2. Romeus + Juliet • A poem by Arthur Brook • Written in 1562 • Inspired by Ovid’s Pyramus & Thisbe

  3. Sunday Morning • Opening fight scene. • Benvolio Montague v. Tybalt Capulet • Prince: death penalty if you fight again.

  4. Sunday Afternoon • Paris: Can I marry Juliet? • Capulet: She’s too young (only 13). But come to my party tonight. • Romeo & Benvolio hear about the party and decide to crash it.

  5. Sunday Night • R, Benvolio & Mercutio crash the party. • Tybalt sees R & gets angry. • R & J fall in love at first sight. • First kiss.

  6. Monday Morning • 1 am • R sneaks back to Cap house to see J. • Balcony scene. • They decide to get married.

  7. Monday Morning (cont) • R plans wedding with Friar. • Nurse meets R to get info about wedding.

  8. Monday Afternoon • R & J get married. • Tybalt is looking for R, but finds Mercutio instead. Fight. • R arrives. • Tybalt kills Mercutio. • R kills Tybalt, runs. • Prince: Romeo is banished.

  9. Monday Night • R & J enjoy wedding night. • Capulet plans wedding for J & Paris on Thurs.

  10. Tuesday morning • R leaves town at dawn. • Capulet tells J about marrying Paris. • J goes to Friar. • Friar’s plan: sleeping potion.

  11. Tuesday Afternoon • J: OK, Dad, I’ll marry Paris. • Friar sends R a letter about the plan.

  12. Tuesday Night • J takes sleeping potion.

  13. Wednesday Morning • Everyone thinks J is dead.

  14. Wednesday afternoon • Funeral

  15. Wednesday Night • Friar’s letter doesn’t get delivered.

  16. Thursday morning • R’s servant Balthasar tells him J is dead. • R buys poison.

  17. Thursday afternoon • Friar learns R didn’t get letter.

  18. Thursday night • R arrives at Capulet tomb. Drinks poison. • J wakes up. Sees R. Stabs herself. • Prince, Capultet, Montague, Friar arrive. • Friar explains. • Capulet & Montague make peace.
