  1. The Gifts of the Spirit What is a gift?

  2. Charisma 1: It is a favour with which one receives without any merit of his own. 2. A gift of divine grace. 3.The gift of faith, knowledge, holiness and virtue. 4. The economy of divine grace, by which the pardon of sin and eternal salvation is appointed to sinners in consideration of the merits of Christ laid hold of by faith. 5. Grace or gifts denoting extraordinary powers, distinguishing certain Christians and enabling them to serve the church of Christ, the reception of which is due to the power of divine grace operating on their souls by the Holy Spirit.

  3. Charisma From the word Charis to give graciously, give freely, bestow, forgive, restore (to one another and man to God), to preserve and keep safe. offered by God with joy, favour, pleasure, sweetness, charm, loveliness bountiful, beneficial, affectionate, and rewarding.

  4. Gifts given for the expansion of the knowledge of God and the Kingdom Ministries are given for the equipping of the saints

  5. Nine Gifts listed in this passage Revelation Gifts: word of wisdom, word of knowledge and discerning of spirits Power Gifts: faith, gifts (plural) of healing and working of miracles Inspired or Vocal Gifts: speaking in tongues, interpretation of tongues and prophecy

  6. What is wisdom? accumulated philosophic or scientific learning (knowledge) ability to discern inner qualities and relationships (insight) good sense (judgement) A wise attitude, belief or course of action The teachings of the ancient wise men based on all of the above with experience

  7. Hebrew = chokmah = skill (in war), wisdom (in administration), shrewdness, prudence (in religious affairs). Greek = Sophia = wisdom, broad and full of intelligence; used of the knowledge of very diverse matters. Supreme intelligence, such as belongs to God: in Christ The fear of the Lord is the beginning of all wisdom

  8. True wisdom comes from God and is imparted through the Holy Spirit Exodus 28:3 Exodus 31:3 Exodus 31:6 Joshua: Deuteronomy 34:9 Solomon: 1 Kings 3:5-12, 1 Kings 4:29 ff Paul compares God’s wisdom to man’s wisdom: 1 Corinthians 1:17-30

  9. Definition? the revealing of the prophetic future under the anointing of God. It’s not a total revelation but a word. the God given ability to see a situation or problem or opportunity and then have the ability to do it/solve it/get through it. It’s the “how to” of God.

  12. So how do we operate in this? By faith By asking How do we know it’s from God? Inner witness Peace The Word of God

  13. Conclusion The Word of Wisdom comes through the Holy Spirit with power, revelation and direction. We operate in it by faith and we receive it by faith. It is given to exhort, encourage, equip and direct and shows us the way to go. It is given to grow the Kingdom of God personally and corporately. It is given to anyone who will be used by God who is willing to be a vessel.
