  4. INOW After visiting pjhs.us you can click the link to INOW parent portal. This is the first screen you will see. Enter Parent (User name) sti parent (Password) This is the screen where you actually enter your school-generated username and password. You can change your password after login.

  5. Bus and Car Procedures School opens at 7:20 a.m. Doors open to students at this time. Car Riders Release at 2:55 p.m. Cars come into the parking lot in two lanes. Right lane will pull through and turn right on 67 toward Somerville. Left lane will pull through and turn left on 67 toward Decatur. When your child gets into the car, the middle lane is used as a passing lane. *Students should watch for their rides in the line in order to expedite movement of the line. Bus Riders Release at 3:00 p.m. IF your student has a bus change, please send a note signed by a parent/guardian for principal approval the morning of the change.. Phone calls will NOT be accepted. School Closes at 3:30 p.m. daily

  6. Breakfast & Lunch at PJHS • Lunch Forms • Student Breakfast $ 1.00 • Lunch $ 2.10 • Pre-pay for lunches via School Payment Solutions link on PJHS website OR send cash or check to the lunchroom. Students will be served an alternate lunch if they charge more than 3 lunches.

MCS School Rules & Discipline Class I - Minor Offenses 1.01 Classroom disruption or distraction 1.02 Excessive tardiness 1.03 Unauthorized absence from class or school 1.04 Non-direct profane or obscene language/gesture 1.05 Gambling 1.06 Minor Threat, intimidation, bullying, or harassment of student 1.07 Inappropriate public display of affection 1.08 Intentionally giving false information to school employee (lying, concealment of information, or forgery of school notes) 1.09 Minor disruption on a school bus 1.10 Non-conformity to dress code 1.11 Littering 1.12 Possession of unnecessary items at school 1.13 Failure to follow appropriate directives from a local board of education employee 1.14 Any other violation which the principal may reasonably deem to fall within this category.

  8. MCS School Rules & Discipline Class I Disciplinary Actions for Secondary Students First Offense : In-school conference and/or parent notification and/or one of the following disciplinary actions listed under subsequent offenses. Subsequent Offenses: Detention, work assignments, corporal punishment, in-school suspension, or Class II Disciplinary Action. Excessive tardiness and unauthorized absence from class or school may warrant parent or guardian and student to attend an early warning court for failing to meet attendance requirements.

MCS School Rules & Discipline Class II - Intermediate Offenses 2.01 Disrespectful or defiant of school employee’s authority. 2.02 Battery upon students- actually and intentionally pushing or striking another student against the will of the other, or intentionally causing bodily harm to an individual. 2.03 Vandalism - Deliberate and intentional destruction or damaging of public property or personal property of another. 2.04 Stealing (Larceny) petty theft - the intentional and unlawful taking or carrying away of property valued at less than $100.00 belonging to or in the possession or custody of another. 2.05 Possession of stolen property with the knowledge it is stolen. 2.06 Violation of board policy on use of tobacco (File JCDAA) 2.07 Possession of and/or use of matches or lighters. 2.08 Written or verbal proposition to engage in sexual acts. 2.09 Use of obscene manifestation (verbal, written, or gesture) toward another person. 2.10 Leaving school grounds without permission. 2.11 Improper conduct of student at a school event which reflects negatively on school. 2.12 Threats/ Attempted Extortion/ Bullying - verbally or by written or printed communication, maliciously threatening and injury to the person, property, or reputation of another with the intent to extort money, property, or any pecuniary advantage whatsoever, or with the intent to compel the person so threatened, or any other person, to do any act or refrain from doing any act against the individuals will. Note: Completion of the threat, either by the victim’s complying with the demands or the carrying out of the threat against the victim, constitutes a Class III offense. 2.13 Trespassing. 2.14 Violation of board policy on use of internet and electronic mail. (File JCDC). (Violation of JCDC user guidelines #4 and #7 may result in Class 3 major offenses/discipline actions) 2.15 Any other offenses which the principal may reasonably deem fall into this category.

MCS School Rules & Discipline Disciplinary Action for Secondary Students First Offense : In-School conference and/or parental notification and disciplinary action (corporal punishment, in-school or out-of- school suspension). Subsequent Offenses: In-School or out-of-school suspension, alternative school placement, contact with appropriate legal or governmental agencies, or Class III disciplinary actions. Class III Offenses Include Fighting, Drugs, Possession of weapons, etc. Disciplinary Action my necessitate involvement of legal agencies. Suspension is immediate and may recommend expulsion or Alternative School placement. Due process will be followed.

  11. PJHS School Rules & Discipline CLASS I DISCIPLINARY PROBLEMS (Disobedience, disrespect, dress code, defiance, horseplay, etc.) MORE SEVERE DISCIPLINE ISSUES CAN JUMP A STUDENT TO A HIGHER STEP ON THE LADDER FOR THE FIRST OFFENSE. 1ST OFFENSE: Conference or 3 page report. (Reports not completed result in automatic trip to ISS) 2nd OFFENSE: One day of morning, lunch, and break detention or 5 page report (reports not completed result in automatic trip to ISS for 2 days) or 1 corporal. 3RD OFFENSE: 3 days of morning, lunch, and break detention or 7 page report (reports not completed result in automatic trip to ISS for 3 days) or 2 corporals. 4TH OFFENSE: 5 days of morning, lunch, and break detention or 3 corporals or 1 day ISS. 5TH OFFENSE: 3 corporals or 3 days ISS. 6TH OFFENSE: 3 corporals or 5 days ISS. 7TH OFFENSE & SUBSEQUENT VIOLATIONS: 5 days ISS or Out of School Suspension or Alternative School.  ALL DISCIPLINE IS PRINCIPAL’S OR THE ASSITANT PRINCIPAL’S CHOICE.

  12. Promotion Minimum Requirements for Promotion Grades 6-8: • Student must have successfully passed the four core subjects. • At least 60 must be averaged in order for a student to be promoted. • Students who fail any two core subjects shall be retained unless they pass one of the failed subjects in summer school. Students who fail one of the core subjects may be required to attend summer school if this same subject was failed the previous year. • Adherence to established Attendance Policy is Required. *NEW * Students required to complete summer school will be offered the Star Suites program at PHS for a fee of 200.00 per subject failed. Credit recovery is no longer an option.

  13. Attendance and Exemption • If your child is absent: They have 3 days to bring a parent note or doctor excuse. • After 10 absences of any kind a Doctor’s note is REQUIRED. • Students can check out sick if Nurse Anita deems it necessary and contacts the parent. • Check in/out counts toward exemption based upon the time of check out and what class was missed. Students can exempt exams with: A in the class- 3 absences allowed B in the class- 2 absences allowed C in the class- 1 absence allowed

  14. Advisory • Advisory meets each day after 2nd period. • Teachers are able to meet with their students and get to know them throughout the year on a more individual basis. • Teachers will call their Advisory students’ parents initially and then be a point of contact via email or phone for that student. • This mentoring initiative has proven effective in student academic success.

  15. Testing • The Explore Test will be administered on October 17th to all 8th graders only. • The ARMT+ test will be administered in May to all students 6-8 during the window of May 6th- May 14th. • Please DO NOT schedule appointments, vacations, sporting events during this time.

  16. Clubs at PJHS • 3rd Friday of each month (schedule is on website). • Clubs meet during various periods throughout the day, except 4th period for lunch. • There is usually a club day activity (dodgeball, kickball, ugly walk, etc.) for students. • Club examples are Art, Just for Girls, Outdoors, Trivia, Get Fit, FCCLA, FCA, Folk Music and Civitans. There are many clubs to choose from!

  17. Box Tops and Target • Please send your Box Tops to PJHS to help our school! • Target has “Give with Target” you can vote via Facebook once each week. Our school can earn up to $10,000 in gift cards (25.00 for every 25 votes). *Voting ends 9/8 so encourage all your family and friends to vote!

  18. Volunteer Parents • PARENTS wanted! Parents are a vital part of student success. We want you to feel that you are a part of our school! • Sign-up to volunteer and be placed on our contact list. We will not have elected positions, but one grade-level representative that we can contact when there is a school project, dance or event where parents could be called upon to help (volunteering time or to send supplies, food, etc.) • Mrs. Gates will be the point of contact if you have any questions 

  19. Have a Great Year!! • Back to school dance is this Friday, August 24th at 6:00 p.m. in the small gym. • Yearbooks for 2012-2013 will be on sale for 35.00 in the lobby on your way out. • Please sign up on our volunteer parent sheet as well 
