  1. Evaluation of the recommendations From the second workshop

  2. Key achievements Institutional frameworks to facilitate coordination of the national statistical systems ii. Statistical offices promote the metadata culture for both producers and users (training president’s office staff on Burundinfo). iii. Isteebu recruited statisticians for line ministries (to address the problem of metadata)

  3. Key achievements iii. A quality framework has been adopted November 2013 (standards for national indicators). iv. The National statistical office has produced a handbook to assist all line ministry. v. Update data and metadata.

  4. Challenges The poor quality of education data (net primary school enrolment > 100 for some provinces), computed using the admin data Is not yet fixed. Now the projection of population has been done and the process of fixing the issue is ongoing

  5. Challenges Health data (all the health centres do no report or increase the number of clients to get bonus). This problem is not yet fixed but the authorities are sensitized and the service in charge is working hard to fix the problem

  6. Metadata availability With the UNSD/DFID project, Burundinfo indicators have metadata and the MDGs has been adapted the national context with the assistance of an international consultant. However, before publishing any indicator a series of checks have to be done (I mean updating)

  7. Data dissemination ISTEEBU publish data from official report collected in the ministries and institutions If a data doesn’t have metadata we seat together with the producer and write it if we can get information. ISTEEBU has recruited statisticians to deploy in line ministries and government institutions;

  8. Data dissemination The NSC has adopted a five year program of data collection for all the NSS; Avery survey has to present its methodology to NSC. Some data are not published because the metadata are not available (estimated tables from line ministries) or not conform to standards
