Living without portfolio management … • No formal capture of ideas for future projects • A reluctance to kill projects & too many new development projects • Poor mix of projects – risky, safe, incremental, radical etc • Weak decision points • Projects selected based on emotion, politics, “pet-project”, the “bosses idea” • No strategic criteria for project/new product selection • Resulting in: inefficient use of resources and long term failure….
