  2. Jim uses 32 ounces of oranges to make a pitcher of orange juice. He has 768 ounces of orange juice. How many pitchers of orange juice can Jim make?

  3. ANSWER: • 768 divided by 32 = • 24 pitchers of orange juice

  4. The Lake Travis High School PAC has 8 sections. There are 425 seats in each section. About how many seats are in the PAC?

  5. ANSWER: • I would need to estimate because of the word ABOUT, so… • 425 would be 400 and 8 would stay 8 • 400 x 8, so 4 x 8 = 32 and I add 2 zeros • My answer is 3200 seats.

  6. There are 456 people visiting the library. Each library table seats 16 people. How many tables are needed to seat all of the visitors?

  7. ANSWER: • 456 divided by 16 would be 28 r 5 • If I had 28 tables, 5 people wouldn’t have a seat, so I would need to add one more table to my answer. • The answer would be 29 tables.

  8. ANSWER: • 378 x 6 = 2,268 buttons

  9. My mom has 6 plastic jars in her craft room. Each jar holds 378 buttons. How many buttons in all does my mom have?

There are 168 grapes divided evenly into 12 containers at a store. • Which quick picture can be used to determine how many grapes are in each container? • First I look at the total number of place value blocks. The total must be 168, because I have 168 grapes. • Total =156 Total = 168 Total = 151 • This means I look at the middle one and see that there are 14 sets of 12, so my answer is 14 apples in each container.

  11. What is the best estimate for the product of 9 and 7,200? • ESTIMATE— • 7,200 should be 7,000 • 9 should stay 9, so • 7000 X 9 = 7 x 9 = 63, and I add 3 zeros • My answer is 63,000

  12. My family is going to Schlitterbahn. It costs $336 for 16 tickets. How much does one ticket cost?

  13. $336 divided by 16 • 300 divided by 15 = 20, so that’s my estimate. • 336 divided by 16 = 21 • So, $21 per each ticket. ANSWER

  14. What is the best way to estimate the quotient of 8,346 divided by 17? • 8,346 should be 8,000 • 17 should be 20 • The estimate should be 8,000 divided by 20 • I know that 8 divided by 2 = 4 and I add 3 zeros, so my answer is 400

  15. Jenny used estimation to place the first digit in the quotient. • 7,625 divided by 23 = 3_ _ • A. 75 divided by 3 = 25 and 75 is close to 76 • B. 60 divided by 3 = 20, and 20 is less than 75 • C. 75 divided by 25 = 3 and 75 is less than 7,625 • D. 80 divided by 20 = 4 and 80 is about 76. My answer is A.

  16. A pet store owner orders 2,080 dog bones. He decides to sell the dog bones in packages of 8. How many packages of bones will he be able to make? I would divide 2,080 into 8. First, I would estimate.2,080 would be changed to 1,600 and 8 would stay the same, so1,600 divided by 8, 16 divided by 8 = 2, and I add 2 zeroes.My estimate is 200.2,080 divided by 8 = 260 packages.

  17. This is a griddable. When I get an answer, I might be asked to transfer my answer onto the griddable. • If my answer is 260. I put the 2 in the hundreds place, the 6 in the tens place, and the zero in the ones place.
