  2. Domestic Airspace • Canadian Domestic Airspace includes all airspace over the Canadian land mass and the Canadian Arctic and certain areas over the high seas.

  3. Domestic Airspace is divided into two areas. They are: • Northern Domestic Airspace • Close proximity to the magnetic pole. Compass is hard to read here. • Southern Domestic Airspace • Most areas within Canada fall into this division. Most aircraft fly at set altitudes.

  4. Altimeter Regions • Altimeter Setting Region • Prior to take-off or landing, a pilot will set the aircraft's altimeter to the nearest aerodrome. • Standard Pressure Region • Includes areas mostly in the north and airspace above 18,000 feet. Altimeters are set to the standard setting of 29.92”Hg.

  5. Sparsely Settled Areas • Geographical areas of Canada with few settlements. • Flight in such sparsely settled areas requires special precautions and procedures because of limited navigation facilities, severe weather conditions, limited weather information, limited fuel supplies and servicing facilities.

  6. High and Low Level Airspace: • High level airspace • All Canadian Domestic Airspace that is 18,000 feet and above • Low level airspace • All Canadian Domestic Airspace that is below 18,000 feet

  19. Restricted Area Flight is either completely prohibited or restricted to specific conditions. Airspace in which activities may constitute a potential hazard to aircraft. Danger Area

  20. Alert Area Area in which a high volume of flying training or unusual type of aerial activity is carried out. Flight within these areas is not prohibited but pilots should exercise extreme caution.

  21. Military Flying Area High level airspace reserved for military flying and testing exercises. Civilian aircraft are not allowed in this area.
