Mrs. Brandon and Mrs. Roper bring extensive teaching experience and dedication to creating a fun, engaging learning environment. Key elements include daily homework, interactive journals, and integrated STEAM curriculum. Important dates and reminders are provided to ensure your child stays on track. Field Trips • Atlanta Symphony • Kennesaw Civil War Museum (fall) • All Day Trip to Chattanooga (May)
Absences & Tardies • Make-up work-Students are responsible for getting missed work while absent (all work will be filed by the day). Please keep up with grades and missing work on Synergy. • Not all work can be made up-*this will be marked as an X in synergy (it does NOT count towards their grade). • Send in an excuse letter. • After multiple absences a letter is sent home from the school/county. • Remember, excessive tardies have a negative impact on student acheivement
Reading • Will be studying genres year long and integrating SS and Science into Reading. • Students who have permission can use e-devices to read during the school day. Thank you for the Wonder purchases! • Using interactive journals much more this year. Less papers home, Will bring journals home to have signed. • 2 Genres/Book Talks per Quarter
Writing/Grammar/Spelling • Wordly Wise, Words Their Way, and Greek root words. • Tests bi-weekly • DGP –Daily Grammar Program • Writes in variety of genres such as narrative, informational, opinion, & response to literature
Math • Number Sense & Measurement • Multiplication & Division of Decimals • Fractions & Algebra • Geometry • Data Analysis • Math journals • Guided Math (Small groups based on skills level) • Number Talks – mental math • Facts Practice • XtraMath
Science • Constructive & Destructive Forces • Matter • Electricity & Magnetism • Cells & Microorganisms • Classification of Organisms • Will be done in interactive journals that will be used to study • Ms. Lisa Brandon will teach Science.
Social Studies • United States Government & Civics • Civil War &Reconstruction • American Immigration/Industry • World War I • The Great Depression • World War II • Post World War II • Geography Skills • Integrated Economics • Mrs. Jessica Brandon will be teaching SS.
