In this journal entry, I reflect on Orwell's assertion, "It is said that power corrupts, but actually it's more true that power attracts the corruptible." This statement resonates profoundly when examining the dynamics of the Russian Revolutions. History shows that those in pursuit of power often lack the ethical foundations to wield it responsibly. Rebellions get ignited by the struggle against oppression, yet they can spiral into new tyranny when the corruptible seize leadership. A revolution, in my understanding, is a radical change that disrupts existing systems and ideologies, often led by those disillusioned with current power structures. While it seeks progress, it must guard against the corruptive allure of authority.
