  4. Coming to terms with impossible Joseph… • Faced with the social implications • Testing the reality of his love • Recognising the reality of Scripture • Hearing the words of the angel • Deciding to act on God’s word

  5. Coming to terms with impossible For us … • Wary of the supernatural? • God? In human form? • Do I need a Saviour? • Put it aside quietly? • Be merely a bystander?

  6. Part of the truth of Christmas God intervened with Joseph vv 20-23 • It’s part of my plan • It’s all about Me • There’s a part for you to fulfil So, by listening, by trusting, and by recognising the Saviour… Joseph finds his place – his destiny.

  7. Obedient to the voice of God Verses 24 and 25: “When Joseph woke up, he did what the angel of the Lord had commanded him and took Mary home as his wife. But he had no union with her until she gave birth to a son. And he gave him the name Jesus.”

  8. Obedient to the voice of God What Joseph had read in the Scriptures and heard in the dream – he obeyed in real life. Obeyed in the light of the impossible Came out of the shadows and lived Rejoiced to name Him – JESUS – Saviour!

  9. Obedient to the voice of God So must we Be challenged by the miracle of Jesus Examine our lives in the light of Him Come out of the shadows into His life Share the dream Name Him our own Saviour!
