What is the Mustang Success Center? • The Mustang Success Center is a general advising center for first year, second year, and first year transfer students.  • “One-stop shop” • The center can answer questions on change of major, registration, and clarification of university policy and procedures.  • This should be where 1st and 2nd year students go before they see their college’s advisor. • Students may drop in, phone, email, or post questions on our Facebook page.

5. Where is the Mustang Success Center? • The science building (building 52) across from Julian’s Smoothies and the University Store.

6. Why is this Important? • If you’ve ever thought “I wish there was one place I could go to get all my questions answered.” There is! It’s called the Mustang Success Center. • Makes advising clearer since it’s in a centralized location on campus, which is going to make new students feel comfortable going in and asking questions, regardless of their major. • We really want to encourage 1st and 2nd year students to use to the Mustang Success Center! Point it out on your campus tour!

7. Fact or Fiction? • Career Services caters to seniors looking for jobs after graduation.

What is Career Services? • A resource on Cal Poly’s campus that: • Gives one on one career counseling—can talk about what you want your life to look like, including what you’re most passionate about, what major you’d be happiest in, and what career directions you can pursue. • “Career” means professional or academic. • Runs workshops on topics ranging from major change and career exploration to networking, interviewing, resume writing, and etiquette. • Offers opportunities to connect with employers. • Hosts quarterly career fairs.

Freshman Focus Team • Offers specialized career counseling to serve first year students. • These counselors facilitate first-year students’ self-awareness, career exploration and discovery of possibilities. • The Freshman Focus Team provides targeted resources and support to help first-year Cal Poly students increase confidence in their academic and career direction.

10. Where is Career Services? • Career Services is located in the Student Services Building (124) near Spanos Stadium.
