José Donoso. Nació el 25 de septiembre de 1925 en Santiago de Chile. En 1957, mientras vivía con una familia de pescadores en la Isla negra, publicó su primera novela, Coronación, en la que realizó una magistral descripción de las clases altas santiaguinas y su decadencia.
