  2. Capacity, Production and Consumption of PVC Unit : ’000 T/Y 1. Review of 2008 Domestic consumption of PVC was down by 8% in light of weak demand from construction industry due to the weak of economic downturn and political situation, especially in the second half of 2008. 2. Outlook for 2009 and beyond Thailand’s domestic PVC demand is forecasted to drop by -1% in 2009 following the economic situation. However, the demand could be flat if the government stimulus packages are well proceeded and effective.

  3. Capacity, Production and Consumption of VCM Unit : ’000 T/Y 1. Review of 2008 Global economic meltdown caused VCM production to decline by 5% in 2008. 2. Outlook for 2009 and beyond Assuming a 90% operating rate for PVC, it is estimated that VCM required for PVC production will be 906,000 MT in 2009.
