Journal 1.1 – Review from yesterday’s notes • Answer the following questions QUIETLY in your journal: • 1) Describe what you know about Caesar • 2) What are his two faults? • 3) Who is Calphurnia? What is wrong with her? • 4) Who is Brutus? Who is he at war with? • 5) What is it about Ceasar that frightens Cassius? • Be ready to share with your partner in 3 minutes.
Journal 1.2Translate to Modern english • Translate I,ii 25-81 • With a partner, paraphrase the lines of Cassius and Brutus into modern English. • *Paraphrase – taking one line at a time • Keep characters (actions, motivations, depth) the same, but you are able to use today’s English and slang. • Be prepared to share. Some of you might be asked to act your scene out.
Journal 1.3 • Pick two characters from the play Julius Caesar and describe them to the best of your ability. Find one quote for each character to support your analysis. • Be sure to cite the Act.Scene.Linenumber (I.i.79).
Journal 1.4Look for the line where… • 1) Cassius finds how Brutus feels about Caesar’s crowning • 2) Where Brutus tells his true feelings about Casear • 3) That shows Cassius’ jealousy toward Casear • 4) Cassius says they should chant “Brutus” instead • 5) Brutus reveals he understands Cassius’ plans • *Be sure to cite Act, Scene, Line in the proper citation format.
Journal 1.5 • Make some notes on why Cassius is afraid of Caesar. • Discuss with your partner. • Then, on a separate sheet of paper, prepare an analytical paragraph describing Cassius fear. Be sure to use a quote and solid reasoning. • Upon completion, submit to the box. +20 points.
Journal 1.6 • Summarize Act I, including scenes i -iv. • Then predict what you think will be happening in scene v? • Speculate what is left to wrap up before this Act can come to an end.
Act I ART HOMEWORK • Chose an appropriate line from any where in the Act, that you thought was intriguing and would look interesting in art. • Then draw an image that represents the line, citing the line correctly at the bottom of the page. • Use color.
Journal 2.1 • Predict what will be happening in Act II…remember that it’s a 5 Act play. • Predict what Act is probably the climax? • What characters need to expand their depth? • Discuss what events might need to occur in this Act to deepen the audience understanding of character motivation.

Journal 4.3 • Let’s think about Brutus for a minute. • At the end of the play, Antony insinuates that he is still an honorable man. Do you agree with this? Why or why not? • Write a 2 paragraph argument on why Brutus should be buried honorably in Rome, or why he should not be.
