  1. 5 Tattoo Removal Myths That Need To Die There are a number of very common misconceptions about tattoo removal out there that are simply not true. Read the debunked myths below: 1 Laser Tattoo Removal Leaves Scars Tattoo removal lasers only target the second layer of your skin. This is where the ink is located. The laser goes through the first skin layer, which is the outer layer and doesn’t damage it. For scars to form, the outer layer of your skin would’ve to be hurt. It’s probably the most common myth about modern tattoo removal but there is absolutely no reason to be concerned about scars. Any modern, q-switched laser works this way and as long as you make sure to get your tattoo removed at a reliable, trustworthy place, you won’t get any scars. 2 Tattoo Removal Creams Really Work As mentioned above, the tattoo ink is located in the second layer of your skin. This means, that any cream would have to penetrate very deeply into the several layers of your skin to even reach the tattoo at all. Most creams have a very faint bleaching effect but don’t remove a tattoo completely. In order to do so, the cream would have to also remove the top layer of your skin which would lead to infections, a lot of pain and scars. 3 Black Ink is Hard to Remove Wrong! Black ink is in fact the easiest and most reliable ink to remove by laser technology. This is because all other ink colours contain additives and other ingredients to create different colours. Black ink can absorb all laser wavelengths whereas coloured ink can only absorb specific wavelengths. This makes the removal process much more difficult. Tattoo removal experts agree that generally, green ink is the hardest colour to remove. 4 Laser Tattoo Removal Hurts A laser tattoo removal doesn’t hurt. You might be able to feel a slightly warm sensation of the laser itself and sometimes, there’s a little bit of reddening and swelling for a few days after the initial appointment but overall, laser is a comparatively pain free way to get rid of an unwanted tattoo. 5 You can Remove Tattoos Straight After Getting Them That’s not true. A fresh tattoo has to heal for anywhere between 4 and 16 weeks before you can have it removed again. So waking up on Monday morning with a new tattoo that you drunkenly thought was a really good idea on the weekend and quickly making a removal appointment for the same day won’t work. The ink has to get settled in the skin first and the skin has to heal completely before it can be penetrated by laser or any other removal method. Anything else would lead to unnecessary pain, terrible results and potential scarring.
