F.D.Roosevelt 50, 1050 Bruxelles, Belgium ²Université de Liège, ASMA Department-Manufactoring Laboratory, chemin des Chevreuils 1, 4000 Liège, Belgium The notch hinge guiding system Aim of the work Elaboration of an implantable pump guiding system Advantages -absence of relative movement between parts -possibility of having low speed -small displacement -no lubrification need -high compact resulting system Notch hinge dimensions (mm) Notch hinge guiding system The Electrical Discharge Machining by wire (EDMW) Principle -based on the different voltage between a metallic piece and the wire -piece placed in a dielectric solution -the electrical arc formed burns locally the material EDMW machine EDMW process The notch hinge parameters M The deflection angle is function of three parameters -the radius R -the thickness h0 -the material used Maximum deflection angle Bending stiffness Torsionnal stiffness Notch hinge geometry Thickness vs.radius and limit angle Future work New profiles -ellipse -parabola -hyperbola -spline Test bench -comparison between mathematical modelling and experimental results -show the accuracy of the manufacturing process -show the problems inherent in the manufacturing process Test bench Parabolic profile
