  2. The ADDIE model is a project management tool that helps instructional designers think about the different steps needed to make sure their end products are as effective as can be.

  3. Each step in the ADDIE Model has an outcome that directly feeds into the next step in the sequence. From the time a person asks, “What do people need to learn?” to the point when a person asks, “Did the people learn what they should have?”

  4. ADDIE Model The ADDIE Model is the basis for almost all Instructional Systems Designs. It consists of five phases: Analyze, Design, Develop, Implement, and Evaluate. Figure 1 downloaded from: www.regent.edu/admin/ctl/addie/home.cfm

  5. The Analyze phase of the ADDIE model is most important because this is where you decide what outcome or behavior you want at the end of your lesson. Rapid Prototyping should be used throughout each phase to catch flaws before it is too late.

AnalyzeThe BIG Picture This is where I ask myself: • What outcome do I want? • Who is my audience? • What kind of learner do I have? • What does my learner already know? • What is my goal or objective? • What instructional and assessment strategies will I use? • What content do I need to present? • Will my assessment be formative, summative, or both?

  7. DesignThe Blueprint The design phase is the blueprint of your lesson. • Clearly state your objective. • Identify content. • Write instructions. • Apply instructional strategies. • Choose lesson format. • Choose delivery options. • Choose type of assessment: Formative, Summative, or both.

  8. DevelopThe Production Phase Build Lesson Material • Select text and resources. • Select instructional strategies. • Develop assignments, quizzes, assessments, and additional content. • Determine delivery method. • Prepare presentation to engage the learner.

  9. ImplementHands On • Activities and instructional processes are performed. • Environment must be conducive to the learning desired. • Interaction between students and educator. • Ask for feedback. • Train proper personnel using handouts and guides created in the development phase.

  10. EvaluateThe Reflection Process Measure whether the goals and objectives were achieved. • Use Formative Assessment after each phase. • Use Summative Assessment at the end of the lesson. • Fill out evaluation forms • Determine if more instruction is needed. • Reflect and Correct

  11. The ADDIE Model manages the entire development of a lesson’s design. It covers the whole process from the time the instructional designer thinks of an idea to the time when he/she implements it and evaluates his/her results.

  12. Analyze Design The ADDIE Model is a way of creating an effective training program as long as all five phases are followed: Analyze, Design, Develop, Implement, and Evaluate. Develop Implement Evaluate
