  1. THIS IS A VIRUS A Virus is not living- Nor is it considered dead It must have a host cell to reproduce and perform life functions A virus has either DNA or RNA, not both! Tail fibers are specific protein receptor, that is why some viruses can affect only humans, only plants, or only a certain type of animal or plant.

  4. Herpes Virus • An STD • Can Affect all parts of your body. • Incurable

  5. Pox Viruses • Pox viruses are a family of viruses which includes: Chicken Pox, Cow Pox, Small Pox, etc. • Smallpox is a deadly disease causing terrible scars. • It was wiped out by widespread vaccination several decades ago.

  6. WARTS • Blister-like bumps caused by viruses in the skin.

  7. INFLUENZA (FLU) • Th flu virus mutates so quickly that a new vaccine is required every year.

  8. Human Immune Virus (HIV) • Transmitted sexually and in blood products • HIV attacks the Helper T cells of the immune system. • You do not die from HIV, you die from other infections that lead to death. HIV destroys your immune system causing AIDS (Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome.

  12. DIPTHERIA • Deadly bacterial infection that can be prevented by vaccination (DPT)

  13. RHIZOBIUM • Bacteria that live in soil that transform atmospheric nitrogen and turn it into useful nutrients (nitrates) for plants

  14. LACTOBACILLUS • Bacteria used to make yogurt and other dairy products.

  15. E. Coli • Bacteria found in the human intestines that produce vitamin D and aid in digestion.
