  4. Ways to Access Data • Internal Reports – F7 from most screens, most not very useful. Exception is GL Report Writer, which is difficult to use • Direct Access-Not possible w/ this version of Fourth Shift ODBC-Crystal Reports/FoxPro-Difficult & Problematic on this version of Fourth Shift w/ proprietary database. • Extract-FoxPro – Using Bulk of external reporting is done this way. Timeliness & file sharing issues • Extract-Excel – Limited use, Convenient but limited to FS “Views” • Extract-Access – Not currently used. Also limited to FS “Views” • Archive File – Flat file, must be parsed & interpreted by program. Most SOX control reports use this d/t the fields available.
