Understanding AP Score Levels: How Good is Your AP Exam Result?

The AP exam scores range from 1 to 5, indicating varying levels of college readiness and qualification for credit. A score of 5 signifies "extremely well qualified," while a score of 1 means "no recommendation for college credit." In 2008, over 3 million AP exams were taken, with an average score of just below 3; only 14% of students earned a score of 5. Understanding your AP score can help in determining your preparedness for college-level coursework.
