  1. Using PowerPoint to Teach Social Studies/Science by: Holly MacDonald, Chantal DesRoches, Karen Cheviere, Pam Berry, Bonnie Collins, Bryan Ouellette

  2. Ideas: • There are many ways to teach Social Studies/Science using PowerPoint. • One idea: If you are going on a field trip, try and get some disposable digital cameras for the students to use on the field trip. When you get back load all the pictures onto a computer so students can access them on any computer.

  3. Con’t. • Have students access the pictures to make a slide show off their favourite part of the field trip, organize the pictures in chronological order/ alphabetical order. • If it was a field trip to the zoo they could put the pictures of the animals in geographical order, order by size, what they eat, sleeping patterns, etc.

  4. Con’t. • A teacher could get students to bring in digital pictures of their summer vacation and put them on a computer so all students could access them. • Put the students in groups and have them sort the pictures by location, province, country, alphabetical order, favourite places, etc. and develop a PowerPoint presentation

  5. Con’t. • Some other idea to use PowerPoint to teach Social Studies are: • Time line • Matching • Concept development or categories • Sequecing • Choices

  6. Con’t. • Exploration of a topic • Cause and effect slides • Http://www.internet4classrooms.com/ideas pp.htm
