Everything that You Need to Know About Data Protection Law in India Data protection mainly refers to a set of privacy policies, procedures and laws aiming towards minimizing intrusions into the privacy of an individual or a business caused due to the collection, dissemination and storage of personal information. Personal information or data is the data or information that is related to an individual who can easily be identified from the data or the information when it is collected by a private agency or a Government organization. The Indian Constitution does not deliberately grant the right to privacy. Nevertheless, the courts in India take the right to privacy into several other fundamental rights like freedom of expression and speech and right to personal liberty and life. The Status of Data Protection and Laws Governing it in India At present, there is no data protection law in India governing the privacy and the data protection of companies and individuals in India. Nevertheless, there are relevant laws in India that deal with the subject of data protection and these include the Indian Contract Act of 1872 and the Information Technology Act of 2000. There are chances of a codified legislation on data protection and privacy to be shortly introduced in India. Introduction to Laws Governing Child Adoption in India Adoption has always been one of the most scared acts performed by human beings. Child adoption in India is a subject of personal law where Buddhist, Hindu, Sikh and Jain by religion have the flexibility or the option of going for legal adoptions. Here, it is important to note that India does not have separate child adoption laws for Christians, Parsis and Muslims. It is also worth noting that only legal adoption is considered valid and is recognized in India. Therefore, for the ones willing to go for legal adoption, it is necessary to understand everything about legal adoption. Legal Adoption in India Legal adoption in India means the procedure by way of which an adopted child is separated permanently from his or her biological parent and becomes the legal child of the adoptive parents with all privileges, rights and responsibilities concerned to this very relationship.
