  1. Report Back from ITK-SC Meetings Tony Affolder and Ingrid Gregor

ITK-SC meetings • Two ITK-SC meetings, we reported to since our last meeting • July 28th-Mostly focused on strip module WG • https://indico.cern.ch/conferenceDisplay.py?confId=142815 • August 11th-2nd half WG statuses and needed interactions • https://indico.cern.ch/conferenceDisplay.py?confId=145470

ITK-SC Meetings (2) We are collating the information requested • Generally ITK-SC really impressed with strip module WG progress • Concerned about ASIC schedule, but no suggestions on how to speed up • A lot of discussion on funding R&D phase of project • Requested to make a list of large cost items (in our case ASICs) • ITK-SC bring complete list to Upgrade Advisory Board • Request from ITK-SC for list of participating groups with approx. FTE and manpower • Response to our statements on shortage of manpower, especially on end-cap and ASIC irradiations • Request from ITK-SC also for a schedule with list of decision miles

  4. Cross-WG Issues • Readout WG – phone meeting on Sept. 20th to discuss on-detector DCS, EOS packaging and power supplies • Integration WG – number of HV lines not sufficient to counting room. Will need either to: • Have HVPS unit at PP2 and a lot of cables to end of structure: Massive and not clear how to do feed-throughs • Use 1 HV line with more than one module: Not sure if ever done before. Need to prioritize a program on evaluating the effects of this to see what is possible. • Sensor WG- need to make sure to have ABCn130 compliant sensor by time ASICs become available (Q1 2013) • Local support WG – material vs. power efficiency estimate

  5. Future Meetings Oct 6-7: ITK-SC discussing LOI, phase I pixel strategy and baseline layout and costing November 14-18: ATLAS Upgrade Week Suggest we next meeting the week before (Sept 28th) or after (Oct 12th) ITK-SC LOI meeting
