  2. Welcome to the Florida Tropical Beach Art by Lloyd Dobson Artist of Siesta Key - Sarasota, Florida. Lloyd's oil painting style gives bright glorious color that will lift your spirit. Lloyd's tropical oil paintings are filled with all of his surroundings.

  3. An award winning, self-taught oil painting artist, Lloyd Dobson is known for his bright vibrant tropical style of paintings. He lives in the Siesta Key - Sarasota area of Florida. His home also serves as his work studio and art gallery.

  4. “I am inspired by the wonder of color. The transparency and spontaneity of oils on stretched canvas gives life to my paintings.”

  5. “Here in Florida and other places I have visited, there is so much color all around you. When I observe the palm trees blowing in the breeze, the sunlight dancing off the leaves water, the aqua Gulf water, the sugar white sand beaches or the light shining through blossom petals, it inspires me to paint them and see if I can capture this dance of light.”

  6. Born in Kansas City, Missouri and raised in Independence, Missouri. He studied art in high school and college where he was blessed to win numerous art awards and ribbons.

  7. In Missouri he studied under the late artist Andrew Thoman. After a year in college he migrated to Southern California. Lloyd's work is enjoyed in private collections with some of the more notable collectors being Art Linkletter, Debbie Reynolds and Debbie Reynold’s mother. A couple of years living in California,

  8. He partnered with three other artist and opened a gallery in Laguna Beach, California. That same year opened a gallery and studio in Canoga Park, California as well.

  9. In 2007 he moved to Treasure Island, Florida where Florida’s west coast now seem to influence his paintings. In 2013 Lloyd Dobson moved to the Siesta Key – Sarasota area and close to his son, daughter-in-law and granddaughters and they have invigorated him to continue capturing God's palette.

  11. and the fourth Sunday of every month at the Lakewood Ranch Farmers Market from 10:00am to 2:00pm (8am to 12 noon through the summer months).
