Responsible Conduct of Research • Online Training Module now available in the UC Learning Center • http://www.uclc.uci.edu, Type “RCR” in the search box • Online form to facilitate NSF certification of RCR training will be available in August • PI’s for NSF awards active as of August 1st will receive an e-mail asking them to certify training for personnel supported (i.e paid) on the NSF award during the previous year. • Certification will be required annually thereafter

  7. New Indirect Cost Rate Agreement Effective July 1, 2011 • New agreement covers the period July 1, 2011 through June 30, 2016 • Effective for all proposals submitted to Sponsored Projects on or after July 1, 2011 • Supplemental and Continuation proposals should use the indirect cost rate applicable to the parent award • Proposal submitted to Sponsored Projects prior to July 1, 2011 and will not be affected by the rate change • Submitted Proposals and active awards will not be affected by the change • i.e. The indirect cost rate proposed and awarded will be honored • NIH is the exception

  8. New Indirect Cost Rates • On Campus Organized Research Rates have changed. They are: • July 1, 2011 to June 30, 2012 53% of modified total direct costs • July 1, 2012 to June 30, 2013 53.5% of modified total direct costs • July 1, 2013 to June 30, 2014 54% of modified total direct costs • July 1, 2014 to June 30, 2016 54.5% of modified total direct costs

New Indirect Cost Rates • On campus Instruction rate is as follows: • July 1, 2011 to June 30, 2016 46% of modified total direct costs • On campus Other Sponsored Activity Rate is as follows: • July 1, 2011 to June 30, 2016 37.5% of modified total direct costs • Off campus research, off campus other sponsored activity, off campus instruction and the clinical trial indirect cost rates remain the same. • 26% of modified total direct cost for off campus research, other sponsored activity and instruction • 26% of total direct cost for clinical trials
