  1. Isosceles & Equilateral Triangles Notes 20 – Section 4.6

  2. Essential Learnings • Students will understand and be able to use the properties of isosceles and equilateral triangles to solve triangles.

  3. Isosceles Triangle Theorem • If two sides of a triangle are congruent, then the angles opposite those sides are congruent. B If AB ≅ CB then ∠A ≅ ∠C A C

  4. Converse of Isosceles Triangle Theorem • If two angles of a triangle are congruent, then the sides opposite those angles are congruent. B If ∠A ≅ ∠C then AB ≅ CB A C

  5. Equilateral Triangle Theorem • A triangle is equilateral if and only if it is equiangular. • Each angle of an equilateral triangle measures 60⁰. 60° 60° 60°

  6. Example 1 Find x and y. y x 130°

  7. Example 2 Find x and y. x 70° 70° y 5

  8. Example 3 Find x and y. 12 xy 3x

  9. Assignment WS – Isosceles/Equilateral Triangles (use e-paper for work) Unit Study Guide 3 - Due Monday Acuity – Monday! Unit 3 Test – Next Friday!
