  1. WORLD WITHOUT MEMORYby Seth KramerProduction Concept Directed by Ryan Hewitt

  2. Inspiration • “I think you remember everything ... you just can't bring it to mind all the time.” EDWARD ALBEE, Three Tall Women • “Alzheimer's ... it is a barren disease, as empty and lifeless as a desert. It is a thief of hearts and souls and memories.” NICHOLAS SPARKS, The Notebook

  3. Senses • Smells Like- Flowers that are too far away • Taste Like- Bland food • Looks Like- Burnt photos • Feels Like- sand • Sounds Like- 20 people talking at the same time

  4. Concept Development • What Story do you want to tell? The story of a man who has his entire past slipping away from him and how it not only affects him but the people he loves. • What is the Central Conflict? That Abe’s family does not know how to help him. • What is the present-day significance of the play? Memory diseases are quickly becoming a norm in Elderly people in America Each day on average, 1,252 people are diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease in the United States. So it is very likely many people in the audience will have a personal experience with someone like Abe http://www.alzheimersreadingroom.com • Why do you want to direct it? I want to direct this play because yes it is very sad but it also gives people hope who are living with family members disabled my memory loss diseases.

  5. Dramatic Metaphor • Old Scrapbook / Photo album To me this play is like a scrapbook or a photo album that has been torn up because as we grow older one thing that can always bring us back to are childhood is pictures from family trips , school functions, and holiday just to name a few. In my play Abe’s scrapbook is old and torn apart but a few pages of it are shiny and new with the help and love of his daughter he cleans off a few pages of that scrapbook and can see them clearly again.

  6. Dramatic Metaphor Images

  7. Spine Line Statement • World without memory is a play that shows that even if your brain and senses are fading your heart still has the images of your past it is just difficult too see them.
