  2. What I have learnt • Include– • Sports you have completed • Gymnastics • Netball • Activities you have completed • Gymnastics – vaulting, partner balances, floor routine • Netball – 2v1 exercise, marking games • Games you have played • During out Netball unit, we played many games which were fun because we used all the techniques and knowledge we learned to play the new sport. • Memories from the activity • It was fun to make my own gymnastics floor routine because it was my first time. I could make my own routine and develop my gymnastics skills. I developed my cartwheel and bridge during the lessons. • Netball was also fun as it was my first time to play this game. I learned a lot during the netball lessons and I had fun playing it with my friends.

  3. Learner Profile Links • What Learner Profile points have you been able to demonstrate in the units of work? • Risk-taker • I had to take risks while during gymnastics as I learned new moves. At first, I did not dare to do a cartwheel but after taking a risk and many tries, my cartwheel improved by a lot. • Communicator • During the Netball unit, I used communication to communicate with my classmates. Because of the communication we used, we were able to collaborate well together and score a few goals. • Inquirers • I am curious about the new knowledge and sports we learn during PE classes. I ask myself questions about how to improve in the sports. • Show evidence, use images, videos etc

  4. What I can do to improve • What must you do to improve your level. • To improve my level in Gymnastics, I should improve in my balances. In my floor routine, my balances were my weaknesses. For my flights, backward roll and cartwheel, I should have more practices. • To improve my level in Netball, I should improve in my stamina so when I am the Center player, I can keep running without getting too tired. My coordination were not always correct so I would take more steps than I am supposed to. Therefore, I should improve more on my stamina and coordination. • This can include- • Skills to improve • Listening to the teachers/following instructions • Practising more • Attending

  6. Pulse Raising & Stretching • Standing Hamstring Stretch • This stretch increases the flexibility in the hamstring muscles on the back of the thigh. • Butt Kick Stretch • This stretch stretches the quadriceps by bending the knee as far as possible. • Triceps Stretch • This stretch stretches our triceps by pushing our arm backwards as far as possible and to give it flexibility as well. • Posterior Shoulder Stretch • This stretch mainly stretches the middle and posterior deltoid.

  7. Skill Specific Exercise – Passing In this exercise, there are 4-5 netballs and a netball team. The players will be running around the court and will try to receive a netball from another player. When receiving the pass, the receiver will use another passing technique then the technique used to receive. The player holding onto the netball can only pivot and wait for another player to call their name and pass it. This skill exercise will help in the game as it develops our passing techniques and skills. It will also benefit as we have to call for the netball and stand in different positions so that receiving the netball is easier without people blocking. Since there are more than one netball, everyone will get the turn to receive a netball.

  8. Skill Development • I would like to develop my passing skills because I always seem to pass too slow or I have no one to pass to when I receive the ball. • To develop this, 2 versus 2 games would be the best. When two people on one team try to pass to each other and the other two defend and try to get the ball from us. This will make us think of how to pass the ball to our teammate without losing the ball to the opponents team.

  9. Skill Progression – Passing • Stage 1 – Six players play with one ball in a third of a court and number themselves from 1 – 6. They pass the ball around in number order but they move around at all time. This will help the players to do the basics of passing. • Stage 2 – Players signal for the ball and do not play according to number but each player calls for the ball so it’s clear where the ball has to go. The players will be able to call for the ball whenever they want to. • Stage 3 – Play 3 versus 3 and make the game competitive. See which team can pass the ball to each other without being interrupted the most number of times. This will make players play seriously and make good passes to each other so the opponents can’t steal the ball.

  10. Netball Rules • Starting the Game • The first pass is played in the center of the court where the two Center players are standing. • Offside Rule • A player with or without the ball can only move into their designated playing area. If a player goes offside, a free pass is awarded to the opposing team in the offside area. • Scoring and Shooting • The only players allowed to score goals are the GS and GA. They must be fully inside the goal circle to be able to win a point.

  11. Netball Positions • The seven positions in netball are – Goal Shooter (GS), Goal Attack (GA), Wing Attack (WA), Center (C), Wing Defense (WD), Goal Defense (GD), and Goal Keeper (GK • Goal Shooter – To score goals and to work in and around the circle with the Goal Attack (GA). • Center – To take the center pass and to link the defense and the attack. • Goal Keeper – To work with the Goal Defense (GD) and to prevent the Goal Attack/Goal Shooter (GA/GS) from scoring goals.

  12. Netball Fitness • The three components of fitness are cardio-vascular endurance, agility and balance/coordination. • Netball players need cardio-vascular endurance to be able to sustain performance throughout the whole match especially the center player. • Netball players need agility to be able to change direction quickly, quicker than the defense player and pass the ball of to their teammate so that the opposing team is not able to take it away. • Netball players need balance/coordination to be able to pass the ball and controlling the footwork at the same time as well. Wrong footwork will cause a free pass to the opposing team.
