1. Assessment and remediation of contaminated sites The HAWA project has successfully updated the list of illegal HW dumpsites for the Bangalore Urban & Rural districts in co-ordination with KSPCB. This has resulted in the short listing of the three most important HW dumpsites. NO Recorded • Remediation Planning of a Model Contaminated Site in Karnataka • Developed Database - CPCB format (January 2005) • Classified and prioritized potential risky site – 3 sites short listed (February 2005)  • Selected One Potentially Risk site (Bommasandra Illegal Dump site) as a pilot project for remediation plan (21.05.2005) • Geological, geo-hydrological and geo-electric study of the proposed Hazardous Waste Management in the KIADB area at Bommasandra ( July 2005) • Prepared remediation Action Plan with scheduling and financial assessment (October 2005) • Facilitate KIADB, KSPCB, DFEE & Industrial Association in remediation work modalities (September 2006 – ongoing) • Implementation of the Remediation preparation work YES • Outcomes • State wide inventory report on investigation of HW illegal dump site in Karnataka was prepared • Clean-up of more than 10 sites by the industries • Remediation plan for one model site prepared • About 45 people trained
