  6. Conclusions There are favourable natural conditions for geological storage of CO2 in deep structural depressions of the southern Pannonian basin and in the Adriatic offshore. The most prospective objects in the near future are the depleted hydrocarbon fields. Significantly larger capacity is estimated in the deep saline aquifers, but it is necessary to develop research projects targeted specifically to the better definition of their geological composition and reservoir properties.
