  1. What is CourtNet? • A database that contains information about cases filed in Kentucky courts • Info includes parties, date of original filing, charges, among other things

Who Can Use CourtNet? • Two “flavors” of CourtNet • KBA Members Only • Pending cases in all 120 counties • Any criminal justice professional (attorney and non-attorney alike) • Closed & Pending Cases in your DPA office’s counties • This Presentation covers the law enforcement side only – KBA side is not mediated by DPA.

CourtNet Registration • Law Enforcement Side Registration • A two-pronged process • (1) Print out a user agreement • http://dpa.ky.gov/library/2008courtnetuseragreement.pdf sign it, and deliver hardcopy to Will Coy-Geeslin (CourtNet administrator for the agency) (2) Then register online at • http://courtnet.kycourts.net/courtnet/aocdefault.asp • Let’s take a look at the first prong by looking at a shot of the two page “2008courtnetuseragreement.pdf” linked to above.

  4. You Fill Out the four User lines to the right.

  5. Send the hard copy original with your signature to • Will Coy-Geeslin, DPA 100 Fair Oaks Ln, Suite 302, Frankfort KY 40601. • AOC requires me to sign the form to authenticate that you work here. • (they will not process a fax)

  6. Now let’s review the second prong of the CourtNet registration process. This requires you to fill out information online. The next four slides will show you what that looks like.

  7. Click “Go Register” to start

  8. Disregard the ORI Number Field – it is for police and prosecutors only.

  9. Last Step • You will then receive a confirmation e-mail with a registration number provided by AOC that will be required at your first logon. Here’s an example...
