Dilations. A dilation is using a scale factor to change the size of something. . Reductions. A reduction is when you use a scale factor that is less than one to make a figure smaller. Enlargements. An enlargement is when you use a scale factor that is more than one to make a figure bigger.

  6. HOW AREA IS AFFECTED BY DILATIONS When you dilate, the amount of change the area experiences and the amount of change the perimeter experiences is never the same. To solve how much the area changes, find both areas and then decipher what the change between the two was.

  7. HOW PERIMETER IS AFFECTED BY A DILATION To find out how the perimeter was effected, you find both perimeters and decipher what the change was.
