  2. Exposition • “There once was a prince, and he wanted a princess, but then she must be a real princess. He traveled all around the world to find one, but there was always something wrong.”

  3. Complication • The prince could never discover if the so called princesses he found were real or not. • There was always something odd about the princesses, so the prince finally gave up and returned home.

  4. Rising Action • A terrible storm arose into a fearful night • During the worst part of the storm the kind heard a knock at his castle gate. • A girl stood before him looking quite drenched and forlorn from the storm • The girl told the king that she was a princess

  5. Climax • The queen wanted to find out if the girl was a real princess or not, so before the queen showed the girl her rooms he took all the mattresses off the bed and placed a single pea on the bed then piled back on the mattresses • In the morning to queen asked if the girl had slept ok. • “oh terribly bad! I have hardly closed my eyes the whole night! Heavens knows what was in the bed. I seemed to be lying on some hard thing, and my while body is black and blue this morning, it is terrible!”

  6. Falling Action • The king and Queen realized at once that the girl was indeed a real princess after hearing that she had felt the tiny pea through the 20 mattresses.

  7. Denouement • The prince took the princess to be his wife. • The pea was put into a museum where people could look a it if it hasn’t been stolen.
