A MORI poll recently asked young people to respond to the following statement: Young people need to understand global issues so they can make choices about how they want to live their lives. 80% agreed with the statement. 33% agreed strongly. 54% felt powerless to do anything about it. DfID

  3. Get Global! Active global citizenship Get Global’s definition of an active global citizen is someone who participates fully in the global society.

  4. Get Global! The core themes of Get Global! 1. To provide an experience of being able to make a difference through action. 2. To develop skills of enquiry, participation and reflection. 3. To develop an understanding of the world as a global community, and to discuss the political, economic, environmental and social implications of this.

  5. Get Global! Aims of the guide 1. To provide a structure for students to manage their own learning. To move from thinking about issues, to planning and taking action and reflecting on the process. 2. To include participatory and innovative activities; assessment and evaluation activities; and games. 3. To focus on skills rather than content and to use in all subjects and with all ages.

  6. Get Global! The six steps of Get Global! Step one – Get asking questions! Step two – Get an issue! Step three – Get more information! Step four – Get planning! Step five – Get active! Step six – Get thinking about it!
