  3. Expected Student Priorities • Be on time everyday • Try your best • Turn assignments in on time/avoid zeroes • Be respectful to yourself, peers and administration and others • Preparation for College • Know Your GPA • Know Your Program of Study • Clubs/Sports • PSAT/SAT/ACT Testing

  4. If you are not here, you can learn. • Set a goal to school everyday on time. • Make it a priority to get to every class everyday on time. • School Begins at 8:15, Classes Begin at 8:30 and end at 3:30. ATTENDANCE

The purpose of Target 2021 is to provide students who were possibly impacted by the CRCT score anomalies targeted supports delivered via the development and implementation of individual learning plans designed (ILP’s) to position them towards proficiency for graduation and equip them with post secondary options. Communities in Schools of Atlanta WHO ARE WE TARGET 2021 PROGRAM Communities In Schools of Atlanta works inside K-12 schools full time to build relationships with students that empower them to stay in school and succeed in life.

  6. APS Course Graduation Requirements 4 Units of English 4 Units of Math 4 Units of Science 3 Units of Social Studies 2 Units of Foreign Language ½ Unit of Physical Education, ½ Unit of Personal Fitness, and ½ Unit of General Health 1 Unit of CTAE, Fine Arts, JROTC, or Pathway 4 Units of Electives (i.e Art, JROTC, Music, Band, etc.) Community Service hours 75 Graduation Requirements 24 CREDITS

  7. Community Service • A required minimum of 75 Hours • Must be submitted to Ms. Jackson immediately. • Both sides of the community service form must be completed prior to submission. • Community service forms can be obtained in the Counseling Office or on the website.

  10. Georgia Credit Recovery (Not NCAA Certified) • Applications are now available in Ms. Jackson’s office Credit Recovery Options

  11. Phoenix Academy Atlanta Virtual School Georgia Credit Recovery Mays Night School Alternative Credit Options

Comprehensive Exam • If you failed a course at any point and received a grade between 60-69 you are eligible to take the Comprehensive Exam • The Comprehensive Exam will exempt you from taking the class again if you pass with a 70 or higher and pass the milestone test if one is associated with the course • Comprehensive exams were given in August and September. 27 students were successful. January & March 2020 we will test again. • Maximum of 2 courses is allowed for testing

  13. Dual Enrollment • Minimum overall GPA of 80 and Above • Accuplacer Scheduled for September 24, sign up in the counselor's office • Math 67 • Reading 23 • Writing 5 • SAT • Composite 970 • 24 Reading • 22 Math • ACT • Composite of 20 • 17 English • 17 Math

Transcript, Recommendation, and Test Scores • Transcripts • In state (Georgia) Students must request that their transcript be sent via the GAfutures website • Out of state Students must request that their transcript be sent via the Mays High School website counselor request link • Test Scores • Test scores must be sent through the testing agency, SAT or ACT

Transcript, Recommendation, and Test Scores (con’t) • Recommendation Letters • Provide recommender a resume • Present to recommender at least two weeks before due date • Recommender can be teachers, counselors, employers, community leaders, pastors, etc • Example of a resume can be found in the counselor’s office or on the Mays High school website

Testing Fee Waiver Process • SAT • Apply online at Collegeboard.com • Fee waiver eligibility is based on income • Students are offered two fee waivers (only) • Test scores are only sent by the respective testing agency • ACT • Apply online at act.org • Fee waivers can be picked up in the College and Career Center or Ms. Jackson’s Office • Students are offered two fee waivers (only) • Test scores are only sent by the respective testing agency

  18. ACT/SAT Board • In order to have your picture placed on the student recognition board for high test scores, students must have a composite score of: • ACT 24 • SAT 1190

  19. GAfutures • Create account • Hope GPA • Research colleges and careers • Social security number must be on file with GAfutures to obtain your HOPE GPA and to receive HOPE funds • Collegescorecard Another search engine for researching colleges

Scholarships Opportunities • HOPE (State Funded) 3.0 in all Core Classes based on GAFutures account GPA • Zell Miller (State Funded) 3.7 Core GPA, 26 ACT, 1200 SAT • Achieve Atlanta Overall (4 Years) 80 GPA and must be Pell Grant eligible • Google Scholarship Opportunities • Visit the College and Career Center
