Meanings… * Assumption = something that is suppose to be the case, without proof - Examples? * Prejudice = belief without any basis or evidence usually negative thoughts/actions - Examples?

Student & Teacher Expectations: 1. Most importantly, we will respect everyone in our classroom. 2. We will come to class with an open mind. 3. We will respect the views and beliefs of everyone in our class. 4. We will dress in a professional manner. 5. Cell phones and music players will be OFF and not be visible. 6. We will have our school ID visible at all times. 7. We may not share the same views as others, but we will always be accepting that our great country allows us to disagree in a civil manner.
What Do You Do When You Enter Class? • If you have an excuse note (Yellow Slip) for the teacher, place it in the correct container. • Place your Binder on your desk. • Take out your Homework and put it in green bin. • Read and complete your Warm Up quietly.
Attendance * You are expected to be here every class! - If you are absent for class, a legal excuse note is needed within 2 days of the absence. (STATE LAW) * If you are absent for class, you are entitled to make-up work only if you provide a valid excuse note: - You must pick up your makeup work either before school or after school. - I will not spend class time providing makeup work during class. * If you do not come to class and do not provide a valid excuse, you will not receive make up work.
Policies and Procedures * Coming in Late: - Please sign in using the Late Log - Include: Date, Full Name, Period, Time - Legal & Illegal Tardy students must sign in * Turning in Assignments: - Turn in your homework when you enter the classroom - Make sure you write your first & last name on each assignment!
Policies and Procedures SLANT is our classroom’s standard of excellent behavior. Students are expected to follow SLANT during class. It is an acronym for the following: Sit up Lean forward Ask questions Nod your head Track the speaker’s eyes
Policies and Procedures * Going to the Bathroom: - “Hand Sanitizer Pass” - Preference is that you Go BEFORE/AFTER Class - Please don’t interrupt class to ask for a pass unless its an emergency * Going to Locker or other place: - Need to use the “boot” * Excuse Notes & Daily Progress Reports: - Give to Mr. Shulman at the beginning of class

Policies and Procedures * Food & Drink: - You are more than welcome to bring a bottle of water or other drink with you …but… - No FOOD is allowed in the classroom - No drinks near computers/laptops
Academic Integrity (Truthfulness) • What are examples of cheating? (write these on your notes) • If you are caught copying another person’s work, both people will receive a ZERO • If you are caught copying another person’s work for another teacher, I will take your work and notify the teacher ASAP • If you copy and paste information to use in an essay, your work will receive a zero • If you are cheating off someone’s quiz and/or exam, your quiz/exam will receive a ZERO and a PS-74 will be issued
