  2. What is the Scarlet Macaw’s predator? HUMANS - hunting, poaching, deforestation and the spraying of pesticides by companies cultivating and selling bananas, are probably the Scarlet Macaws worst predator.

  3. Where would the Scarlet Macaw lay its eggs and how long does it incubate them for? The Scarlet Macaw lays two or three white eggs in a tree cavity. The female incubates the eggs for about five weeks, and the chicks fledge from the nest about 90 days after hatching. They leave their parents about a year later.

  4. What is the life span of a Scarlet Macaw? They can live up to 50 years in captivity but typically they live up to between 30 and 40 years.

  5. What are the main colours of the Scarlet Macaw? The plumage is mostly scarlet (red), but the rump and tail-covert feathers are light blue, the greater upper wing coverts (a group of feathers that overlay other feathers) are yellow, the upper sides of the flight feathers of the wings are dark blue as are the ends of the tail feathers, and the undersides of the wing and tail flight feathers are dark red with metallic gold iridescence.
