  2. The population has shown a tremendous growth from 1.65 billion count to 6 billion in the 20th century. World population has increased by 7.18 billion. Top 3 countries with the largest population count in the world are China, India and United States. The world is expected to reach 8 billion people in 2024. As because the growth rate of population is declining, it is estimated that it would take nearly another 200 years for the statistics to double again.
