  1. DVD & BLU RAY TIPS When there are Blu-ray, PS3 games and DVDs that do not work on the machines first make sure that the disc is in good condition and that the machine is not faulty or has a weak or faulty laser.  (See DVD CARE on intranet site). If the machine is 100% and your other CDs play then check for a software download on the internet. First you need to look for the make and model numbers of the machine either in front, back or underneath. Example 1 :  LG N301, Samsung SC230b, Sony Playstation 3 CECHJ04  then you go to                      lg.com, samsung.com and sony.com, etc. Look for downloads of software. Example 2 :  My sons bought the PS3 game called Grand Theft Auto IV and on the cd, it asks to update the software for your machine and therefore you say yes and it updates the latest software for your playstation machine,  which was version 4.15 at the time.

  2. A week ago they bought the new FIFA 11 game and it also asked them to update their system software, on  updating it updated to version 4.46. Which means there were all those downloads 4.16, 4.17 etc which we missed. If the game or the movie has got the software no need for the internet. If the customer doesn't have the games they can go to the website and download the latest 4.46 or any other newer versions that are available. I have not done this exercise with the blu-ray movies, but its worth checking if the movies carry the update on it. Otherwisewe're back to the world wide web. Please do not forget if the machine or movie/disc is faulty no software is going to help. I have already had customers who have faulty lasers on their PS3, which is very costly. If you miss all the downloads but get the latest version it will have all the corrections just like our friend the Raps Patch. I have been fortunate that I have had no problems with my customers having to download software for their blu-ray

  3. Machines. The problems I have encountered is when a customer hires a blu-ray thinking that it will work on his DVD machine and then comes back complaining that it does not work. We now ask a customer if he has a blu-ray or PS3 machine when we see him with blu-ray movies in his hand, and it is quite surprising that a lot of customers still don’t know what blu-ray is, but they are learning. By asking before they hire eliminates a lot of complaints that the movie does not work.
