HA Info: Harrow Informed – the journey begins Why a local information system: Data all in one place • Support managers across partnership organisations in formulating evidence based strategy • Enhance research & intelligence capability in local needs and requirements • Improved two way community dialogue by supporting & signposting community groups', councillors’ and residents' requests for local data • Boost transparency of public services & support the open data agenda • Stimulate innovative and creative data presentations by local people and educational institutions 

  3. HA Info: Harrow Informed the journey starts The journey really started at an Instant Atlas conference last year in Nottingham. Tom Smith (Oxford Consultants Social Inclusion) gave a presentation, and an idea was planted; in times of reduced resources, purchase the data packs so ……….. reducing officer data manipulation time. We were on the same page and the idea of an all encompassing national data store on Harrow website arose…..

HA Info: Harrow Informed Main drivers of a change management initiative Some of the things that have been successful: • Leadership – councillors & senior managers back up • Good communication – well attended staff workshops with practical exercises • Creative use of resources Corporate Performance Team • Get data people on board • Getting ready for a commissioning approach

HA Info: Harrow Informed Lessons learnt: • Do not try to implement a project just as your IT is outsourced. • Delve into all your ‘hidden’ corporate standards • Have some ‘contingency’ budget in place & bid for future growth • Go outside your comfort zone & authority • Use your suppliers and their knowledge • You become a jack of all trades……..soothsayer, facilitator, negotiator, IT troubleshooter,

To get this right, we need to identify what services are most important and how people need them. We must understand when and where those services are needed to be able to commission exactly what is needed.” ………………..HA Info will help on this journey
