Status Update on HIP 4 Implementation for FreeBSD and Linux as of March 2006

This document provides the latest updates on the implementation status of HIP 4 on FreeBSD and Linux, dated March 24, 2006. The base code is accessible online, with prior snapshots from 2005 and 2006 available. Currently, FreeBSD (versions 5.4 and 6.0) and Linux (version 2.6.15.2) are supported. Features include mobility, multihoming, and BEET mode. Ongoing developments involve the HIP Mobile Router and DHT support. Future plans include enhancing the User Guide and FAQ.   2. The Code • The base code can be found at http://hip4inter.net • 14 snapshots 2005 • 3 snapshots 2006 more to come • FreeBSD and Linux are currently supported • FreeBSD versions 5.4 and 6.0 • Linux 2.6.15.2 • TBD: OS X

  4. HIP 4 BSD (cont) • SPI Multiplexed NAT • Used in EU’s Ambient Networks project • Woodstock.hip4inter.net • Birthday coming on 2nd of April 2006 • Almost one year online without interruption • Most likely it will break now 
