  1. Introduction PLEASE NOTE! This template is to be used as a guide only. It is by no means a prescriptive way in which you have to construct your poster. This poster format may work best for students in the sciences and/or social sciences. If you feel that your project does not fit within this poster rubric, that is okay. For those students in the arts or humanities, we encourage you to be “creative” and “freeform” in your poster design. This is YOUR work and you should choose a poster design that best showcases your work. General guidelines in this poster (text, font style, size, etc) however, are still helpful for you in creating your own poster. Your poster should be readable from 3 feet away. Use a large enough font (typeface) so that people can read from a distance. Your headings should be about 36 size font and your text should be at least 24 sized font. This is font size 30, but yours may need to be smaller based on how much information you are putting in each section. Text size should be consistent across the boxes, except for labels on graphs, heading, etc. Design Be sure that you use a font that is plain (i.e., Ariel, or any San Serif) so that your poster is easier to read. Do not choose “fancy” fonts and do not italicize words as they are much more difficult to read. When choosing a font color, choose a dark color that is easy to read. Light colored text, even on a dark background is hard on the eyes. Results You can include an institutional logo on your poster. You can download the academic “N” or the UNL logo at: http://www.unl.edu/ucomm/ucomm/toolbox.shtml#font Title of Your ProjectYour Name & Faculty AdvisorInstitution Name Conclusion & Discussion Be sure to sum up your main results and findings in a way that is easy to read and clear. If desired, you could use bullets to display your primary findings and to discuss the implications of your work. Method Headings should be consistently styled, whether in all caps or initial caps, boldface or underlined, flush left or centered. Choose one style/color and be consistent throughout the poster. Use the headings appropriate to your discipline/research. Generally, poster presenters limit their headings to six or fewer.
