  2. Objectives • Students should know how hurricanes form • Students should recognise pressure gradients, lapse rates and Coriolis force and their role in hurricane formation • Students should understand how hurricane impact can vary over time and space.

  3. Hurricanes • Video on hurricane formation • Read page 235 and 236 • Produce a flow chart on how hurricanes form. Include information on latent heat, lapse rates, instability, condensation, pressure gradient etc.

  4. Demonstrate understanding • Describe how weather conditions would change in Florida from the start to the end of a hurricane, using the chart on page 236. • One of you will read out your passage on how the weather in a hurricane. • How would this vary over time and space?
