Urus maritimus

The polar bear (Ursus maritimus) is a majestic mammal found primarily in the icy habitats of Alaska and Canada. Born in dens of ice, these cubs typically arrive in December, weighing just 1-2 lbs, often as twins. As carnivorous apex predators, they can weigh between 900-1600 lbs and reach heights of up to 6 feet. With a lifespan of 25-30 years, polar bears face the threat of endangerment due to overhunting and habitat destruction, with an estimated population of only 2,500 to 5,000 remaining in the wild.
