  1. A Peek at ThisWeek in… Mrs. Jacks’Classroom Week of August 25th News Last week we had a very successful week introducing procedures and expectations for the classroom. This week we will begin our daily Morning Work, weekly Vocabulary Words, Reconstruction Unit, Opinion Writing, and introducing the Daily 5. The Daily 5 • Students will be introduced to the Daily 5. The Daily 5 is a literacy structure that teaches independence and gives students the skills needed to create a lifetime love of reading and writing. There are 5 tasks: Read to Self, Work on Writing, Read to Someone, Listen to Reading, and Word Work. Vocabulary If you have any children books that you no longer need or see some that you would like to donate. Our classroom would greatly appreciate it! • This week student’s will begin to review prefixes. The list includes the prefix un-, and pre-. Vocabulary Quiz on Friday. Writing • This week we will work on Narrative Writing. Part of the tasks of Daily 5 is Work on Writing. This Task will be introduced this week starting Wednesday. Upcoming Events Science/ Social Studies • The class will begin their unit on Reconstruction. • September 1-No school, Labor Day • Box Tops- Please save box tops! Make sure to place them in a baggie with your child’s name on it.
